There was no such name as "Palestine" until AD 135. This is an anachronism, since Palestine did not exist in Seleucid times. The Romans changed the name from Judaea to Palestine in AD 135 because they were trying to stamp out the name of Judah. They failed. There is no reason to continue trying to stamp out the name of Judah when that is what it was known as at the time, and not Palestine. ፈቃደ (ውይይት) 14:39, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Once again, the term 'Palestine' is inappropriate when talking about Seleucid times. The region was not known officially as Palestine until 135 AD. The Romans chose this name as a term of contempt. As for today, the region is controlled by Israel, so if you want to use the modern entity, use Israel. The area can only be correctly called Palestine when speaking about the years 135 to 1948. ፈቃደ (ውይይት) 15:10, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
