Battle of Charchamesh
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Battle of Charchamesh was fought by three nations, Assyria and Egypt against Chaldea.
After the fall of Nineveh, Assyria was left without its capitol and called up the Egyptians (their allies) to help them against the threat of losing their nation to the Chaldeans. Nabopolassar challenged the Pharaoh of Egypt and fought against Assyria and Egypt under the control of General Neco. The exact numbers are not known, however, the Chaldeans were known to be outnumbered, but fought bravely and claimed the victory.
Before the battle of Charchamesh, Egypt was known to have the greatest army out of all the dynasties in northern Africa and the middle east, but this soon changed at the defeat in the battle of Charchamesh when the Chaldean Dynasty proved the world it had more to offer than Egypt and Assyria put together.
