Benjamin Dutton, Jr.

Benjamin Dutton, Jr., (1883-04-03 - 1937-11-30) was a US Navy Captain, expert navigator and author.
Dutton was born in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, graduated from the Naval Academy in 1905. His long and distinguished career included command of USS Nokomis (PY-6) and USS Wyoming (BB-32); various staff and school assignments; and attache duty in Germany in 1935. Known for his expert work in navigation, he was the author of Navigation and Nautical Astronomy, first published in 1926. Captain Dutton died at South Gate, California, while in command of USS Portland (CA-33).
Two ships of the US Navy have been named USS Dutton in his honor.
