[edit] Toba Batak Language
Hi, I'm Steve. I originated the article. I want to know if there is interest in having me study and write more about the language. I do not speak the language, but I am a linguist and a clear writer. My wife speaks the language, and I am here to be educated.
/Steve
- Hi Steve. I don't know much about the language. I edited a couple of times only to clean up, but not adding new materials. If you want to edit the page, then please do so. This is wikipedia, where everyone can edit. :-) — Indon (reply) — 08:55, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Malioboro
Hello Indon, all right, as long as I am not able to find a reliable source on the origin of Malioboro Street in Yogyakarta or Fort Marlborough in Bengkulu, I will keep quiet. However, it would just be fair if you could support your assertion that Indonesia has 300 ethnic groups. What is your definition of an ethnic group? And what are your sources? Besides, I would like to point out that the national language of the Republic of Indonesia is Indonesian, not bahasa, which just means "language"... :-) Kindest regards, Anda Djoehana 13:00, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Metric Units...
There's a editor converting all metric measurements in Krakatoa to imperial measurement. Do you know the wikipedia policy on this? We need to use metric SI Units, right? Merbabu 14:33, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
- We need to use both as I recall the WP:MOS. As a comparison is Mount Tambora. — Indon (reply) — 15:05, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] portal
Hi Indon - I'll look at the portal now. I actually enjoy it but sometimes I forget. Merbabu 11:13, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
- By the way, i can actually do some in advance. I will try to do that again. I also think we should do two weeks at once - we are running out of good articles!!! Merbabu 13:15, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Receiver operating characteristic
Hello, Indon.
I was reviewing this article when I noticed that it is a copy and paste job from this much older article.
I think the title should be Receiver operating characteristic, in accordance with WP:NAME. I reviewed some of the literature, and although the acronym ROC is widely used, in the vast majority of academic papers the phrase "receiver operating characteristic" is not capitalized – "receiver operating characteristic" is not a proper noun. Unfortunately, I can't move the article to the right title because of the copy and paste job you did on 31 January, 2007.
Please use the "move" function (the little "move" tab) when you want to change the title of an article in the future. The way you went about this particular move broke the connection between the page and its history. Now I'll have to ask an administrator to straighten the whole thing out.
Thanks! DavidCBryant 13:36, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
- I moved the article to Receiver operating characteristic and merged the histories. Indon, it appears you did a lot of work on this article, thanks. Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 15:40, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Dayak
While you are correct in counselling this editor for PA, please go easy on him for now as I am e-mailing him. I think he is a good editor, just a bit of a hot-head, like so many now good editors were when they first started (me included). thanks :) Merbabu 12:38, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

btw, when are you going to come back to Indo project full time? Not just casual. There is so much more you can do. Merbabu 13:10, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

I would prefer to give you a copy of Borobudur: Prayer in Stone but it is out of print and i can't find it anywhere. So have a barnstar instead. The article Borobudur is simply outstanding. -- --Merbabu 11:11, 5 April 2007 (UTC) |
- Hahaha, thanks. But if you find a new copy, don't forget to send me, right? ;-P — Indon (reply) — 11:43, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Photos
No problem. I just wish they were on CDROM and mapped into Google Earth to make them easier to find - there are so many of them. I'm surprised how many early photos were taken in the 1800s, but I also know that this website is missing many others that I'm aware exist. The stereoscopic photos are particular cool - I can see how West Sumatra looked like in the 1800s in 3d :-) (MichaelJLowe 14:09, 5 April 2007 (UTC))

[edit] The coming (?) of Islam to Indonesia
Hi Indon, a good faith editor has raised (likely legit) concern over the title of The coming of Islam to Indonesia (1200 to 1600) on the talk page. Although I don't mind the word 'coming', he has suggested a few others and I have just suggested 'establishment'. Although I took 'The coming of Islam' directly from Ricklef's chapter name on the topic I am not opposed to a name change if it is a good change. Could you provide your opinion on the talk page. Merbabu 08:29, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Contributions by WaterfallandRailCycler
Hi, I note that you assumed good faith on the part of user WaterfallandRailCycler when looking at Travertine this morning. In fact, that editor's work was all spoof content, and has now been removed or flagged for deletion. Keep up the good work! - Fayenatic london (talk) 19:57, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Civility
Might I suggest that comments like this may not be entirely appropriate. Try and stay civil whoever your talking to, even if they are making attacks, or blatantly vandalising. Comments like that can often make the situation worse. Cheers Ryanpostlethwaite contribs/talk 20:34, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah I did see that, but they have come here to disrupt, you however are a respected editor. It was just more of a heads up than anything. The users indef blocked now anyway. What I was trying to get across was that it's best to just report to an admin and forget about it, rather than rubbing it in the users face, I know it's hard sometimes, but I guess the best advice I can give is just bite your lip and take it Ryanpostlethwaite contribs/talk 20:39, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your comment on me editign 5566
Excuse me Indon, but I believe what you have written to me was very rude and incorrect yourself. First of all, the ONLY edit I made was on the origin of 5566. 5566 is indeed from Republic of China, and if you don't know where ROC is, I strongly recommend you to go to here and find out before claiming others for editing incorrectly. Thank you. Sky Divine 20:38, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
As you know, the tensions of the PRC and ROC are not too good. Therefore, it is accurate to write out their exact and politcal name, such as the People's Republic of China or the Republic of China. Look at S.H.E, Jay Chou, etc. All of these pages are under "Republic of China." Political origins are correct, especially in a disputed area like Taiwan. Also, what you wrote to me seemed like you were a powerful administrator stepping down on others. Sad.
I know you're not an admin, so don't act like one. Seriously, if you don't know the correct information yourself, don't pick on other members claiming there is something wrong with their edits. ROC is different from PRC, and ROC is Taiwan. Thanks.
"our recent edit appears to have added obviously incorrect information and has been reverted or removed" And this is ok, I assume? Claiming others have edited incorrectly w/o even knowing the similarities between ROC and Taiwan? I'm sorry, but that's absurd of you. Sky Divine 20:51, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
Yes, but they way you stated how incorrect I was was not needed. THIS IS WIKIPEDIA? Then I can say again you're not an admin, so don't act like one.
