Doesn't the japanese garden date back to the fair, and what about the victory statue in the south west corner of the park?

I don't believe the present Japanese garden is the same garden that was at the World's Fair.
For the victory statue, do you mean the giant gilded woman? That statue's official name is Republic. It is a replica, made in the 1920's. The original was even larger, but was not gilded.
Jgarden describes a certain level of continuity between the Osaka garden and the present Japanese garden. The Osaka garden is in the same place as the present Japanese garden, but it of course is very different. What do you think?

If you think that we should mention Osaka Garden as being another survivor from the World's Fair, but now I will change the article. I was just going by the usual thing you are told - that the MSI is the only remnant from the World's Fair.

Lest anybody think I'm kidding about the feral parakeets, it's true; I didn't believe it either until I saw them myself the other day. They're bright green and red, and look like they'd be more at home in Brazil than Chicago. QuartierLatin 1968 18:18, 15 July 2005 (UTC)

- Wait, never mind. Other people on the web have had this thought already: [1] [2] [3] I guess they're not really red -- I thought they had splotches of red around their faces, but the ones in these photos just seem green, white, and yellow. QuartierLatin 1968 18:59, 15 July 2005 (UTC)
