Kumar Rupesinghe

Kumar Rupesinghe is the Chairman of the Foundation for Co-Existence, former Secretary General of International Alert, and an advisor to the Reconciliation programme of the Triple R. Rupesinghe has experience in mediation and conflict resolution work. [1]

Rupesinghe has contributed towards building new organizations and networks on human rights and peace.[2]
Rupesinghe developed International Alert's advocacy program, and has initiated peace building and conflict resolution programs in the Caucuses region.[3]
Rupesinghe served as a member of the Board at the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development's Project on War Torn Societies, Chair of the program on Culture and Ethnicity of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation in Japan, Chair of the Forum for Early Warning and Early Action, and contributed to the development of a network of human rights documentation as Chair of the Human Rights Documentation Systems Exchange, International.[4]
He was a member of the Atlanta-based Council of the International Negotiation Network, a peace initiative by President Jimmy Carter, as well as a Council Member and Commissioner for the Commission in Globalisation in the San Francisco-based State of the World Forum, headed by President Mikhail Gorbachev.[5]
Kumar Rupesinghe has edited and written over twenty books and published over two hundred articles in academic journals.[citation needed]
