Related to the Parkfield California seismic event.
This illustrates a number of remote sympathetic events — if we presume that these are in response to the primary earthquake at Parkfield. This appears reasonable as they appeared within a few weeks of the primary event. There is a corresponding region at a similar distance on the opposite side of the San Andreas Fault. This area, Coalinga-Avenal area, experienced a significant earthquake, the Coaliga seismic event May 2, 1983 in an area with no geologically recent surface faulting.
