[edit] Scene in video but included as a deleted scene on DVD
In the video release there is the scene of Peri coming to the DJ's body after being exterminated by a Dalek, however this scene is not included in the main feature on the DVD but instead included as a Deleted Scene. Why is that?--The Shadow Treasurer 02:15, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- It was an extra scene discovered at the end of one of the master tapes by a member of the Doctor Who Restoration Team. They did an edit to readd the scene and it was included on the VHS release. The DVD goes back to the programme almost as transmitted - the scene where the Doctor and Peri speak over the DJ's tannoy (it's the junction of episodes 3 & 4 for those who've seen the four part version) contained music that couldn't be cleared for released so it was digitally removed and replaced for the VHS and DVD releases. [edit] Novelisation
Due to royalties disputes with Terry Nation, this story was never novelized by Eric Saward and published by Target Books.
I'm not sure this has always been the case. In 1993 it was announced that an agreement between all parties had been reached and that Saward would be novelising the stories for Virgin Books (the inheritors of Target). But they never materialised and no further news ever appeared in Doctor Who Magazine to my knowledge.
Several years back posters on news:rec.arts.drwho claimed that Saward had turned in some pages for a rather old fashioned Target style novelisation, which was not what Virgin had been looking for. Apparently two other authors were commissioned, then things fell into the hands of lawyers...
Given the last bit especially I'm reluctant to start changing the note without verifiable sources - does anyone know of any? Timrollpickering 22:07, 16 July 2005 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, I don't... although the pedant in me hastens to point out that it should be "Due to royalty disputes" in that note. Perhaps "Due to various legal problems..."? --khaosworks 00:45, July 17, 2005 (UTC)

- It was Gareth Roberts and Paul Leonard who were commissioned to novelise Revelation and Resurrection respectively in the mid-1990s. Not sure exactly why they fell through as they presumably knew what they were getting into with Nation getting a chunk of their royalties. I believe they both started work, but ended up writing a Missing Adventure each instead for the slots and money they had originally been ear-marked for. Angmering 18:51, 15 August 2005 (UTC)

- I have slightly re-worded this to make it flow better, but also to remove the reference to Target Books - after all it was never novelised for any publisher, not just Target Books. This looks like a remnant from a template showing a serial that was novelised for Target Books. DavidFarmbrough 12:36 18th August 2005 (BST)

The notes refer to "a snowy wilderness in Southampton" I don't think this is quite right as the two locations were Queen Elizabeth Park in Hampshire and the IBM HQ. Any ideas? DavidFarmbrough 12:40 (BST) 18 August 2005
