Sæby

Sæby is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in North Jutland County, Denmark on the northeast coast of Vendsyssel-Thy, a part of the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 326 km², and has a total population of 18,021 as of 2005. Its mayor is Folmer Hansen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party.
The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Sæby.
Neighboring municipalities with land connection are Frederikshavn and Sindal to the north, Hjørring and Brønderslev to the west, and Dronninglund to the south. Neighboring island municipality Læsø to the east is separated from the municipality by the waters of Læsø Channel (Læsø Rende).
By January 1, 2007 Sæby municipality will cease to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007), merging with Frederikshavn and Skagen municipalities to form a new Frederikshavn municipality. The new municipality will have an area of 642 km² and a total population of 63,799 (2005). The municipality will belong to the new Region Nordjylland ("North Jutland Region").
