Anthony Mark ("Tony") Daley (born October 18, 1967 in Birmingham) is an English former footballer, who began his footballing career with Aston Villa in 1985 playing mainly as an out-and-out winger.
He played there for ten seasons before playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Watford and Walsall. He made 214 league appearances scoring 59 goals. It is also rumoured that he could run at speeds in excess of 27 m.p.h. He also appeared for non-league Forest Green Rovers.
Daley played 7 times for England between 1991 and 1992 under former club manager Graham Taylor and played in the Euro 92 tournament in Sweden.
Daley spent four seasons with Wolves after joining them for £1million from Aston Villa in July 1994, but he was plagued with injuries for most of his time at the club and joined Watford at the end of the 1997-98 season. He later turned out for Walsall and finished his playing career with Conference side Forest Green Rovers.
In 1995 Daley was the subject of a half hour documentary. The series 'Respect' for Carlton TV was produced and directed by Pogus Caesar, and featured the likes of Dwight Yorke, John Barnes and Ron Atkinson all paying tribute to the remarkable skills of the Birmingham born footballing hero.
After finishing his career in professional football, Daley completed a Batchelor of Science degree in Sports and Exercise Science at Coventry University.
Daley is currently the fitness and conditioning coach at Sheffield United F.C.
