Walter Dumaux Edmonds was born in Oneida County New York in the town of Boonville NY - actually it is Hawkinsville. He graduated from Harvard and returned home to Boonville where his first book was written - Rome Haul, (1929) which is all about the Black River Canal and the Erie Canal.
