The 1897-98 South African cricket season was the eleventh season of first-class cricket in South Africa. All the first-class games featured Lord Hawke's touring English side. Two of these games were against representative South African sides and are recognised as Test matches. England won both of them, although South Africa came close in the first one. The Currie Cup was not contested in 1897-98.
