- During the 2004-05 NBA season, the Miami Heat's roster contained the first three players selected in this draft:
- Shaquille O'Neal (1st overall selection, by the Orlando Magic)
- Alonzo Mourning (2nd overall selection, by the Charlotte Hornets)
- Christian Laettner (3rd overall selection, by the Minnesota Timberwolves)
- O'Neal and Mourning, the first two players selected, were also teammates on the 2005-06 Miami Heat NBA Championship team.
- Furthermore, since the draft, the Heat has had 9 out of the first 12 selected players on their roster at various points over the 14 years: O'Neal (2004–present), Mourning (1995–2003, 2005–present), Laettner (2004–05) Jim Jackson (2001–02), LaPhonso Ellis (2001–03), Walt Williams (1996), Todd Day (1997–98), Clarence Weatherspoon (1998–2000) and Harold Miner (1992–95).
