AWM Caption: View of Leander class Light Cruiser, HMNZS Achilles who served with the British Home Fleet as HMS Achilles until she was transferred to the New Zealand Division on 24 March 1936. She took part in the Battle of the River Plate against the German pocket ship Panzerschiffe Admiral where 4 of her crew were killed. HMNZS was decommissioned on 17 September 1946 and returned to the Royal Navy. She was sold to India on 5 July 1948, and renamed Delhi before being decommissioned by the Indian Army on 30 June 1978.
