Aleta Wendo (woreda)

Aleta Wendo is one of the 77 woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Sidama Zone, Aleta Wendo is bordered on the south by the Oromia Region, on the west and north by Dale, on the east by Hula, and on the southeast by Dara. Towns in Aleta Wendo include Aleta Wendo and Chuko.
This woreda covers part of the homeland of the Sidama people.
Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 388,788, of whom 189,610 were males and 199,178 were females; 28,816 or 7.41% of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 8.9%. With an estimated area of 567.03 square kilometers, Aleta Wendo has an estimated population density of 685.7 people per square kilometer, which is greater than the Zone average of 430.03.[1]
