Andrés Martínez Trueba

Andrés Martínez Trueba (1874 - 1959) was a Uruguayan army officer, political figure, and president of Uruguay from 1951 to 1955. He was born in Montevideo and grew up in the Peñarol area, graduating from university with a degree in pharmaceutical chemistry. He succeeded Luis Batlle Berres as president of Uraguay, as part of the Colorado Party, and was himself succeeded by Berres on the latter’s second return to the Presidential office.
