Anglo-French Silly Walk
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Anglo-French Silly Walk or Anglo-French silly walk (French: La Marche Futile), an obvious parody of the Concorde's Anglo-French development, appears in the The Ministry of Silly Walks episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus. It is referred to by John Cleese during a discussion about possible choices of silly walk projects to a prospective employee and illustrated with some particularly ludicrous walk motions by Cleese, who is clearly revelling in the prospect of the Anglo-French project's taking place.
The accurate satire implicit in this sketch of 1970s government mega-projects thrilled younger viewers and is sometimes thought to have helped contribute to a growing critique of the size and absurdity of British public sector involvement in commercial projects.
