Dr. Barrett Moore is a fictional character in the FX series Nip/Tuck, played by Alec Baldwin.
He is introduced in the show's second season as a plastic surgeon renowned for his gender reassignment procedures. He has had a close relationship with a woman named Ava Moore, who was revealed to be transsexual after Christian Troy noticed her unusually shallow vaginal canal while attempting intercourse with her. Moore later confirmed that he had performed sex reassignment surgery on Ava Moore, formerly known as Avery Tanner.
Retired and divorced, Dr. Moore's son Adrian Moore committed suicide after confronting his transgendered stepmother, Ava; it had been earlier revealed that the two had been involved in a quasi-incestuous relationship.
Alec Baldwin's sole appearance as Moore was in the second season finale episode, "Joan Rivers." Baldwin was expected to return as a guest star in episode 3.8 ("Tommy Bolton"), possibly as the doctor who introduced Sean to the Witness Protection Program, but for reasons unknown he was not in the episode and his character was not even mentioned or alluded to.
