Bellevue Police Department

The Bellevue Police Department is the police department of Bellevue, Nebraska. BPD currently has 84 sworn officers and 13 civilian employees. It serves a population of approximately 50,000 people. It is made up of four bureaus and six patrol districts.
BPD headquarters is located at 2207 Washington Street, Bellevue, NE 68005
The current chief of police is John W Stacey.

The command staff is comprised of the chief of police, one captain, and eight lieutenants.

The Administrative Service Bureau includes the following units and programs:
- Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving (COPPS) Unit
- Code Enforcement Unit
- School Resource Officer (SRO) Unit
- Property and Evidence Unit
- Support Service Unit
- Volunteers in Police Enforcment and Response (VIPER) Unit
- Chaplains Program
[edit] Uniformed Road Patrol Bureau
The Uniformed Road Patrol Bureau has two precints and six districts and the K-9 Unit.
[edit] Criminal Investigations Bureau
The Criminal Investigations Bureau has two units.
- General Investigations Unit - This unit investigates homicides and assaults, robbery, sex crimes, burglary, and theft related crimes. It also investigates cases of missing adults and children and periodically review such cases for new information.
- Special Investigations Unit - This unit investigates narcotics, vice, computerized crime, gang related offenses, and the effectiveness of the organizations that support them.

[edit] SWAT Team
BPD participates in the South Metro Area SWAT team. The South Metro SWAT team is comprised of highly trained police officers from the Bellevue, La Vista, and Papillion police departments.

The Bellevue Police Department uses the Metro Area Planning Agency (MAPA) for the written and physical fitness tests. These are the first steps in starting a career with our department. After successfully completing these first two tests, you will be mailed an application and continue the testing process with the Bellevue Police Department. To register with MAPA, you can contact them at the address and phone number listed below. MAPA conducts tests several times per year.
