Big Horn County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wyoming. As of 2005, the United States Census Bureau estimates that the population of Big Horn County is 11,333, down from 11,461 in 2000. The county seat is Basin.

Big Horn County was organized in 1896.
The current Sheriff of Big Horn County is Mr. Ken Blackburn.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 8,182 km² (3,159 mi²). 8,125 km² (3,137 mi²) of it is land and 57 km² (22 mi²) of it (0.70%) is water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there were 11,461 people, 4,312 households, and 3,087 families residing in the county. The population density was 1/km² (4/mi²). There were 5,105 housing units at an average density of 1/km² (2/mi²). The racial makeup of the county was 94.03% White, 0.11% Black or African American, 0.75% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 3.37% from other races, and 1.46% from two or more races. 6.17% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 4,312 households out of which 32.50% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.00% were married couples living together, 6.80% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.40% were non-families. Of 4,312 households, 163 were unmarried partner households: 146 heterosexual, 3 same-sex male, and 14 same-sex female.
25.00% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.90% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 3.13.
In the county the population was spread out with 28.70% under the age of 18, 7.30% from 18 to 24, 22.60% from 25 to 44, 24.60% from 45 to 64, and 16.80% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 100.20 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.10 males.
The median income for a household in the county was $32,682, and the median income for a family was $38,237. Males had a median income of $30,843 versus $19,489 for females. The per capita income for the county was $15,086. About 10.20% of families and 14.10% of the population were below the poverty line, including 19.20% of those under age 18 and 10.00% of those age 65 or over.
