Bill Ridgeway

Bill Ridgeway is a Manitoba politician, businessman and farmer. In 1984, he unsuccessfully ran for the leadership of the Manitoba Liberal Party.
Based in Grosse Isle, Ridgeway ran for the Liberals in the riding of Lakeside in the provincial election of 1981. He received only 592 votes, as against 5055 for the victorious candidate, Progressive Conservative Harry Enns.
Ridgeway was the only serious opposition to Sharon Carstairs at Manitoba's provincial Liberal leadership convention, held on March 4, 1984. He received 238 votes, against to 307 for Carstairs and 33 for two other candidates.
Ridgeway has not campaigned for federal or provincial office since this time.
In 2002, Ridgeway presented a resolution against genetically-modified food to Agricore United (which was created by a merger of the United Grain Growers and Agricore Cooperative). He is currently President of the Manitoba Straw Producers Co-op.
