It was first a hit for Tony Bennett in 1951, then popularized by The Clovers later in the 1950s, but is most known for being recorded by Bobby Vinton. Vinton's take hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on September 21 in 1963.
The song was performed by Isabella Rossellini in the 1986 movie Blue Velvet, directed by David Lynch.
