Bridgeport Station
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bridgeport Station is a proposed rapid transit station on the Canada Line in Richmond, Canada, south of Vancouver. The station is due to open when the Canada Line opens, in 2009.
[edit] Location
Bridgeport Station will be located near the intersection of River Road and Great Canadian Way—north of Bridgeport Road and in the same general area as the River Rock Casino—and will be the northernmost SkyTrain station in Richmond. The Canada Line's Operations and Maintenance Centre—currently under construction—will be located immediately to the north of the station. Also, Translink has proposed building a large park-and-ride facility adjacent to the station. The City of Richmond anticipates that the area surrounding this station will be heavily redeveloped, and proposals include the building of office suites and hotels.
[edit] Services
The Canada Line will split just south of Bridgeport Station, with the main line continuing southward through Richmond to its terminus at Richmond-Brighouse Station. A branch line will take outbound trains westward across Sea Island towards YVR-Airport Station at the Vancouver International Airport. Passengers travelling between Richmond City Centre and the Airport will transfer at Bridgeport to complete their journeys. The station will also serve as the new terminus for express buses from Delta and White Rock, which currently travel directly to Downtown Vancouver.
