A Buddhist adaptation of an Hindu God, Garuda (Sanskrit) King of Birds (English). Khangard may be a servant of the Yama (God of Death). According to popular Mongolian belief, Khangard is the mountain spirit of Bojdochan-ula who became a follower of Buddhist faith. Today he is considered the guardian of the Bojdochan-ula mountain range and is the official symbol of the nearby city of Ulaanbaatar.
