A bulbul tarang (or Indian banjo) is a common string instrument from India. Its name literally means "waves of nightingales".

Indian Banjo is a beautiful music instrument and sounds very pleasant. Usually this instrument is used with uni-tonic strings which will not cover the complete scale for producing classical music. Instead of that we can use multi-tonic strings for producing full scale of music with three octaves. Just by using the mandolin chords of order E A D G, you can make the instrument useful for producing classical music.
