California's 22nd congressional district

California's 22nd congressional district covers parts of San Luis Obispo and Kern counties. It is one of 53 California Congressional Districts.

The current Representative for this district is Kevin McCarthy, a Republican. In the 2006 election, McCarthy had defeated Democrat Sharon Beery to replace retiring Republican Bill Thomas. George W. Bush received 68% of the vote in this district in 2004. The district has a Cook Partisan Voting Index score of R +16.
