Talk:Cantacuzino family
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Is the article about the Phanariote Greek family or the modern Romanian family? And why is it talking about the medieval Greek family? Just because a branch of this family became Romanized, it doesn't mean that the family is considered "Romanian". What's next? That all Kantakouzinoi in Greece are members of a Romanian family? There has to be a separate article about the Phanariote Greek Kantakouzinoi and a separate article about their Romanian ancestors (as in the case of Cretan Muslims and Cretan Turks). Furthermore the article starts off by saying "family is an old boyar family of Wallachia", and then it has a section about the Romanian family. Unless this is an article about all families in history named Cantakouzinoi, this edit is out of order. Obviously the members that stayed in Romanian became Romanized, if they had been in Chinese they would have been "Chinified", how hard is it to some editors to understand that this wouldn't make the older members of the family Chinese? The only solution is to provide separate articles about the originally Greek family of Phanariotes, and the Romanian family. We can't fit them in the same article because they're not even spelled the same way. Miskin 13:18, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
