Castlemartyr
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Castlemartyr (Irish: Baile na Martra) is a village near Midleton, in east County Cork, Ireland. This village has a population of 5125 people.
Famous Sons of Castlemartyr include Donncha Ó Tuama(founder of 'Fathers for Justice') and Felix Brien(Owner of Felix Catfood - 'Cats like Felix like Felix')
Little known rock 'n' roll fact: While on tour in Ireland in early 1965, the Rolling Stones breezed into the village on their way to play the Savoy Theatre in Cork. While Bill and Charlie took tea at Mrs. Farrell's eating house, Mick, Keith and Brian nipped across the street to Barry's Bar to check out the local talent before they set off for the city.
