Chaos A.D. is an album released in 1993 by Sepultura through Roadrunner Records.
Though the band had had some success previously, Chaos A.D. was their breakthrough album. Chaos A.D. went into a more groovish direction which helped usher the then forming groove metal genre instead of the thrash metal and death metal styling of their earlier efforts.
The band also included an acoustic, percussion-lead instrumental "Kaiowas" on the album. This became a center piece of the band's live show, with the band, as well as guests from other bands they played with, all playing drums.
The album featured a collaboration with Dead Kennedys' Jello Biafra ("Biotech Is Godzilla") and Evan Seinfeld of Biohazard ("Slave New World"), as well as a cover version of New Model Army's "The Hunt".
The album has sold over 450,000 copies[1].
