Choolaimedu is a large residential locality in Chennai, India. It borders with Kodambakkam, Vadapalani, M.M.D.A.Colony, Aminjikarai, Mahalingapuram and Nungambakkam. Small areas that constitute choolaimedu include Gill Nagar, Mehta Nagar and Trustpuram.The most important aspect of choolaimedu is that it provides a perfect route from where u can connect two of the busiest routes in the chennai,arcot road and nelson manickam road.
Nungambakkam railway station lies closest to Choolaimedu. Choolaimedu is closer to Prestigious institutions like Loyola College [1], PACHIAPPAN MUDALIAR COLLEGE which are nearing or completed their centenary celebrations & Meenakshi Women's College. Panimalar Polytechnic is a famous technical institution situated here. It is undergoing vast development with new Super Mall's from AMPAA CONSTRUCTIONS & a MALL from Satyam Cinemas. There are a number of Mansions for men and Women's Hostel situated here due to its proximity to transport facilities and the Chennai City Centre. A child motivator Mrs.Lata Lakshminarayanan,who has been appreciated by different educationist for developing slow learners, average children.Mrs.Lata Lakshminarayanan is a renowned personality who resides in Second Street Athreyapuram, Choolaimedu.
Nelson Manickam Road Bus line connects buses from Eastern suburbs of Chennai to the South & West of Chennai. Nungambakkam Railway station is one with a huge consumer traffic. As the Chennai city flourishes road traffic has slowly become a menace in here and thereby no space for pedestrians who pass here in thousands every day. Eateries of good quality are scarce here with Nelson Sangeetha, a vegetarian restaurant, Hotel Paradise, a non-vegetarian restaurant. Supermarkets or Departmental stores include Spencer's daily on Nelson Manickam Road and Haniffa Departmental Store on Choolaimedu High Road.
There are numerous temples including two big temples on Choolaimedu High Road, number of churches and three mosques. Notable companies like HDFC & HCL have their BPOs here.
