Christmas Episode
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Christmas Episode was the eighth episode from the first season of the CBS sitcom The Nanny. It first aired December 22nd, 1993.
[edit] Synopsis
Maxwell has to go on a business trip to Washington for the Christmas, leaving the children with Fran. Counting on a large Christmas bonus, Fran buys gifts for everyone, but Maxwell surprises her with a present instead, and she has no option but pawn her late grandmother's watch to pay for the presents. Niles tells Maxwell, who at the last minute leaves C.C. at the airport to help Fran, forcing C.C. to go on the business trip alone. While in the church confessional with Fran, he accidentally sits on the vase he gave her and is taken to the hospital, where a man dressed as Santa Claus is being brought in, apparently having been hit over the head with his own bell by C.C. at the airport. The man gives Grace a present. The family then decides to invite the man to spend Christmas with them, but when they turn around he has gone, and the window by his bed is wide open, implying that he actually was Santa.

[edit] Notes
- This is the first of several Christmas episodes.
- Jean Ford was to appear in this episode, but the small part she appeared in was cut. However, she was still mentioned in the end credits.
- Fran states that she is pawning her late grandmother's watch. This cannot be true, as both of her grandmothers, Yetta and Nettie, appear later in the series.
