[edit] South Azerbaijan article

ChrisO, you mentioned on June 30 at Talk:South Azerbaijan that you are working on three neutral Azerbaijan-related articles. Are there any news? roozbeh 17:23, Aug 4, 2004 (UTC)

Unfortunately I've got tied up with some (non-Wikipedia) work, so I've had to put Azerbaijan on hold for the time being. I'll return to it when I've got the current stuff out of the way. -- ChrisO 23:17, 5 Aug 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Serbs

Please see my recent comment at Talk:Serbs. -- Jmabel 00:21, Aug 6, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Requests for arbitration

Chris, what do you think about launching a Requests for arbitration about Nikola's constant Serb-radical POV pushing? I think there is a good case against him. Take a look here User:Snowspinner/Avala_Evidence, Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Avala/Evidence, User:Orthogonal/Avala_evidence and tell me what you think. GeneralPatton 18:05, 30 Aug 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Dagestan

Chris, I reverted your edits to the Dagestan article, as the name of the federal subject in the side info box was actually supposed to be in caps. As for the accent marks, they are unnecessary because the accented version is already given in the introduction part. Please see the Wikipedia:WikiProject Russian federal subjects for more guidelines. Thanks.--Ëzhiki (erinaceus europeaus) 13:31, Sep 1, 2004 (UTC)

And, oh, thanks for the great job on the North Ossetia-Alania article!--Ëzhiki (erinaceus europeaus) 13:39, Sep 1, 2004 (UTC)

There are more comments on this here.--Ëzhiki (erinaceus europeaus) 18:42, Sep 1, 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for the pointer. I'll leave it to you guys to sort out which case you want to standardise on. -- ChrisO 18:05, 2 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Objection

Ah, so YOU personally propose anything for deletion YOU personally dont like and then you say "shouldn't be linked given that it's up for deletion". And furthurmore as I can see its obviously you are against anything that has to do with Greece (e.g. your significant contribution; Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus).Whats your nationality and your religion? What are your aims here? To propagate against anything that is greek? Who r u? wikipedia's dictator or something? Stop propagating, read NPOV, or go create www.ChrisOpedia.org !! --Themata 15:57, 8 Sep 2004 (UTC)

I'd noticed this also. --Rebroad 22:07, 22 Dec 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Nationality

ChrisO, what is your nationality? Why you are so obsessed against anything that is Greek? --Themata 20:02, 9 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Don't be silly. You seem to have a very hazy idea about why Wikipedia has a neutral point of view policy - go and read the NPOV page. -- ChrisO 00:30, 10 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Why you avoid answering? Whats your nationality? Why you are so obsessed against anything that is Greek? Dark horse..Thats suspicious obviously..Whats your aims here? --Themata 16:41, 10 Sep 2004 (UTC)

My nationality (English, for the record) is irrelevant, and if I have an "obsession" it's more for Greece than against it (I had a classical education and I have a degree in ancient and modern history). I'll admit to having an obsession with the neutral point of view policy - as an administrator of Wikipedia, one of my responsibilities is enforcing that policy and encouraging other users to abide by it. Unfortunately the Macedonia-related articles are frequently targeted by aggressive nationalists and vandals of all sides, so many Wikipedians have been trying for a long time to keep that particular article neutral. -- ChrisO 23:23, 10 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit] No personal attacks

You said; Themata, I think you should take a look at Wikipedia:No personal attacks. If you keep making personal attacks on other users, you are likely to get banned. -- ChrisO 12:22, 11 Sep 2004 (UTC) ->>> You, without ever having talked to you; "It's another outbreak of Greek silly nationalism" (personal attack) ChrisO 23:27, 5 Sep 2004 (UTC) ->>>"..most of it patently false. Thats as for the personal attacks. Who "Started"? not me, obviously.

-->"We have eight votes from editors to delete, zero neutral, zero keep" Joy [shallot] 23:10, 10 Sep 2004 (UTC) -->Actually we have one vote to keep (at least I assume Vergina's "No delete!" means "keep"), but your point stands anyway. As I've also voted, I'll recuse myself from the deletion. -- ChrisO 23:28, 10 Sep 2004 (UTC)

(im not gonna comment your personal attack against vergina) you (the ex yugoslavian Joy and you) didnt include at least 4 (maybe someone deleted more positive comments) people that were not against deletion. 1)me, 2) 194.154.128.25 17:26, 10 Sep 2004 (UTC), 3) this anonymous (Yeah its bad its anonymous); "Is partisan propaganda not Tito propaganda? And when i commeded these, you put my comments in my user page.

For God sake, how much moron you think i am? And as long as you studied history (unprecentented i suppose) you do not know the historical truths? Macedonian nation is based on true story on the same degree as Lord of the Rings. Yeah, you are british, it doesnt matter a lot for your national beliefs if another country uses your history, cuz you were/are the leaders of globalization, but as a person that likes history, why you dont search things more? read historic books written by many different historians, from different countries historians, so they not gonna be in favor of greeks or of macedonian slavs, and you gonna find the really truth about Macedonia issue. And dont threat me of banning me please, im not a child, and my cosmos will not collapse if the user name "Themata" will be deleted from www.wikipedia.org (im not talking sarcastically, im talking frankly now)

And im not nationalist, facist, racist, capitalist, or whatever "bad" you gonna think Im a normal person, that do más o menos the same things people of my age do.

Waiting for your respond plz --Themata 17:30, 11 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Georgia maps

I did not make the Georgia district maps myself, I found them on the Estonian Wikipedia where they were uploaded by Urmas. I did, however, realize that they are valuable and include them in articles here, so thanks for the praise anyway. --romanm (talk) 23:41, 12 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks Chris !

For your contribution of Ilyas Akhmadov.

In my opinion, I just found your wording about the defeated Russian troops which were "poorly equipped" quite comic, although it was true then, and therefore isn't "loaded" but quite correct.

On the other hand, in my opinion, the next war quite didn't fly farther off than the first one, the same troops are still, since September 1999, rambling among the Caucasus rocks just because "someones" went hiding there.

Surely, if you wrote something else, you would have entered at an edit war. --BIR 11:19, 14 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Your uploaded image

Thanks for uploading Image:Old admiralty.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know whether it's released under the GFDL, whether fair use is claimed, or what? Thanks, Quadell (talk) (help)[[]] 17:41, Oct 1, 2004 (UTC)

Done! -- ChrisO 19:08, 1 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] What about Greeks?

(added) I think Philaleth's comments on Wikipedia:Peer review shed a lot of light where s/he is coming from - just more nationalist ranting of the kind that we've seen all too often on this issue, unfortunately

Most probably you ignored this, but you failed to mention that the one objecting to Philaleth's arguments on "Peer review" is also Greek. Such stereotypical judgement makes me upset. Etz Haim 01:45, 5 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Kosovo

I've got no problem with you unprotecting that article as such, but it does concern me that you appear to have done it based on nonexistent policies. To my knowledge, nowhere is there anything stating that a request needs to be made before protecting a page - and indeed, I've seen it happen based on outside concern several times. Not being listed on Wikipedia:Protected page, although regrettable is also not grounds for unprotection - it's grounds for listing it on the page! Ambi 10:24, 10 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Hmm. I was under the impression that one had to make a request for a page to be protected (otherwise we could just protect pages arbitrarily without any record or reasons). Sorry about that misunderstanding. -- ChrisO 10:30, 10 Oct 2004 (UTC)
I think if someone did that, the community would take them out and pulp them. ;) Ambi 10:33, 10 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Chris, this "fled for fear of reprisals" phrase was introduced in various articles at various points. It is completely unacceptable for several reasons:

A reprisal is a clearly defined term; basically, it is retraction of the laws of war on those who have broken them. Suggesting that hundreds of thousands of civilians have breaken and, in a way, are legally responsible for breaking the laws of war, and even worse, that they deserve the "punishment" is, of course, totally unacceptable.

But the phrase goes even worse: people have fled only for fear of reprisals. This implicates that they fled only for fear and that it is not certain that actions which would constitute the reprisals would actually be comitted.

This is why I am removing the phrase. Nikola 11:26, 16 Oct 2004 (UTC)

I can understand Ambi reverting, but why you? You are the one who has found a source which confirms the higher refugee number! So why reverting? Nikola 08:18, 25 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Look, we can talk as much as we want on whether "fled for fear of reprisals" is apt phrase or not. But I see absolutely no justification nor have you given any in lowering number of refugees threefold, and you will agree that this is much more important. Nikola 22:30, 25 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Palace of Westminster image

Hi, I did a perspective correction on your panoramic view of the Palace of Westminster Image:Palace westminster pano corrected.jpg using PaintShopPro. I think it looks better, but I wanted to see if you agree before using it. Billlion 12:39, 17 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] In the news

Hey ChrisO, I removed your entry on the typhoon in Japan from the news section. The typhoon article needs updating to reflect this typhoon before it can be added there. See the guidelines. Regards, [[User:Solitude|Solitude\talk]] 13:38, Oct 21, 2004 (UTC)

I also downloaded the false color picture, but I used the one with higher pixel count. We should decide on one, and remove the other. Agreed? Awolf002 02:54, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Yes, by all means use the higher resolution one and remove the lower-res one that I uploaded. -- ChrisO 09:09, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Metropolitain.jpg

Hi there! Thanks for adding the image Image:Metropolitain.jpg. It currently doesn't have an image copyright tag, and I was hoping that you would add one as untagged images may be deleted eventually. (You can use {{gfdl}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) Thanks! --David Iberri | Talk 18:32, Oct 29, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Image protection

Those vandalised images for GWBush need to be fixed, or removed, or whatever is done for cases like this. I don't have the know-how to figure out why the images appear OK for some links but not others, or to fix the problem. MisfitToys 02:01, Nov 4, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Untagged images

There are a number of images that you have uploaded that have not yet been tagged. I you have a few minutes would it be possible to add tags to them? The untagged images are listed below for your convenience. - SimonP 05:47, Nov 6, 2004 (UTC)
