Dave Wedge

Dave Wedge, born July 31, 1970 in Brockton, Massachusetts, is a reporter and political columnist for the Boston Herald and a freelance journalist. He has covered such national news stories as the September 11 terror attacks, The Station nightclub fire in West Warwick, Rhode Island in 2003, the 1999 Worcester Cold Storage Fire, the 2000 Wakefield Massacre and the December 2006 killing spree at the Foxy Lady in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
He also writes a weekly political column and has covered many major political stories, including the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston, the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York City, the administration of Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, and the historic 2006 election of Deval Patrick as Massachusetts' first black governor.
In 2005, Wedge and the Herald lost a $2.1 million jury verdict in a libel case filed by Superior Court Judge Ernest Murphy. The verdict is on appeal before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court in a case that is being closely monitored by the media. The SJC heard arguments in the case on Feb. 4, 2007. A ruling is pending.
Wedge is also a frequent TV and radio commentator, appearing on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and several local TV and radio stations.
He also covers metal, alternative and electronic music for the Herald's entertainment section and is a regular contributor to Revolver (magazine). He has also written for Boston magazine, "Scratch" and Skiing magazine. He is married to Jessica Heslam, the Herald's media reporter.
