[edit] Career
A run to the last 16 of the Star Dragons Woods Villa Cup China Open was the highlight of David Roe’s 2005/06 season. He had to win three qualifying matches to book his seat of the plane to Beijing, and the Derbyshire cueman then beat wild card Li Yin Xi and Paul Hunter before losing to Joe Swail. That helped Roe climb four places up the ranking list to No 57. Roe has reached the quarter-finals of a ranking tournament on four occasions, the last at the German Open in 1995 when he was beaten 5-3 by Alan McManus. Roe spent three successive seasons in the top 16 and reached a highest position of 13th in 1994-95. He has held a top-64 ranking since the 1988-89 season.
