Talk:David Byrne (musician)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
>>>Perhaps we could expand the "breakup of the Talking Heads". That would require a new Wiki entry called "David Byrne's Massive Ego". I don't think there's enuf storage on the planet to hold that entry. Well...Dave can keep on 'being artistic'. But he's gotta go to bed at night knowing that when people come to his 'world music' concerts, they are only there to hear him cover "Psycho Killer" for the 2549th time! Enjoy your artistic freedom Dave!!! You and your ego deserve it.
- I'd happily go see him even if there were no Talking Heads numbers in his setlist. The fact that you broadly term all of his concerts/music as "world music" just shows you mustn't listen to his music much, if at all. I'm sure DB is well aware that people like to hear the old stuff as well as the new, but he constantly re-invents and rejigs his old tracks so that they retain a freshness. I've heard umpteen versions of the same track that sound very different to one another. I believe DB once said that you have to keep changing what you do, else you will end up sounding like a tribute act to yourself. No chance of that happening here. I'm sure he does enjoy his artistic freedom, otherwise he would've just cultivated a more commercial sound to try and sell more records.
punk! Talking Heads? Um, no. Show me your definition of "punk". I think you must mean "funk." --KQ 14:12 Sep 7, 2002 (UTC)
They were certainly at or about the time of punk and got lumped in because of Psycho Killer; do a Google search on punk + TH and you will find them generally associated with punk. I can also see why you don't like it. user:sjc
- Right. The first album had punk overtones, that's right. I don't like it because I'm addicted to the movie Stop Making Sense, which of course represents their sound at one point, not over their entire career. Ok. --KQ
Is there a better picture available? The one now looks like a mannequin playing guitar; it's not really helpful. Bamos 02:30, 7 Apr 2004 (UTC) No kidding. It's lame. 69.157.0.206 02:45, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)
There is no mention of his more recent hit Lazy either here or on the Talking Heads page. I'd put something in myself but don't really know much about it --KayEss 20:20, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Like Humans Do - windows ME?
I'm pretty sure the song Like Humans Do was (at least first) bundled with WIndows ME, not Windows XP.. can anyone verify? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.3.235.241 (talk) 05:50, 20 February 2007 (UTC).
- It was Windows XP. I've added a reference. -- Mikeblas 15:08, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
