Deborah Spungen is the mother of Nancy Spungen, the girlfriend of punk rocker Sid Vicious who was reputedly murdered by him. Deborah Spungen recounts her life with her daughter in her autobiography "And I Don't Want to Live this Life".
Her autobiography tells not only about raising Nancy, whom she describes as disturbed from a young age, but also her life following Nancy's murder in regard to her and her family's treatment by the judicial system and the press. She began the Philadelphia chapter of FMV, Families of Murder Victims, soon after Nancy's death in order to cope with her tragedy, and later obtained a Master's Degree in Social Work from Bryn Mawr College.
