[edit] Jewish men's rap group
Your twin articles, Jewish men's rap group and J.M.R.G., have been suggested for deletion. If you disagree, you may wish to visit the deletion discussion page established for those articles and explain why these articles meet the guidelines for inclusion in Wikipedia. [edit] External links
Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming, and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. Thanks. Mwanner | Talk 18:42, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
- This is your last warning. The next time you insert a spam link, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted from Wikipedia. /wangi 19:43, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
You wrote: "Hi, I'm an avid listener of "Philosophy Talk," [...]. What's wrong with linking to it?"
- If you are indeed a listener, and not affiliated with the site, there is nothing wrong with adding links to it, other than the fact that if that's all you do, you'll trigger a lot of editor's spam radar, as you did mine and wangi's.
- Wikipedia is being fairly massively spammed these days, and a typical spammer's edit history looks just like yours-- lots of edits adding the same site to the external links of lots of articles. What I would suggest, if you feel like re-adding them, is to slow down, and do some work on the articles besides just adding the link. One or two edits per article would make all the difference (spammers can't be bothered), and the articles generally all need something. Besides, you might find that there are articles that really don't need the link if you spend some time reading what's there-- external links are only supposed to be added if they cover material that can't be added to the article contents directly. So, for instance, if a show covers many of the same points as our article, but has one or two points that our article is missing but that could be covered in the article, it is better to summarize those point in your own language and add that to the article than to add the external link. Also, you're bound to learn something along the way.
- Anyway, I'm sorry that your first efforts were reverted. If you could see the amount of spamming we get, you would understand. Hope you take my suggestions to heart, and stay around. It's a great place to work. Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers! -- Mwanner | Talk 21:53, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
