DZKB-TV, channel 9, is the flagship station of Philippine television network Radio Philippines Network. Its studios are located at Broadcast City, Old Balara, Capitol Hills, Diliman, Quezon City.
It was one of the most dominant networks in the days of President Ferdinand Marcos, along with GMA-7 and PTV-4, which was the former MBS-4; and with ABS-CBN shut down because of Martial Law. The station was responsible for bringing excellent TV shows from the United States, like MacGyver, Airwolf, and both primetime and daytime versions of The Price is Right; as well as the very first airing of Voltes V in the Philippines. It also produced legendary soap operas and sitcoms, namely "Flordeluna," which starred the fledgling young star Janice de Belen; and "John en Marsha," which starred Philippine legends Dolphy and the late Nida Blanca. The title of its all-English flagship newscast, "NewsWatch", became a generic name for any televised newscast in the 80s.
But when ABS-CBN and GMA took the lead in 1987 onwards, it never recovered, despite reformatting twice and airing syndicated shows from World Wrestling Entertainment, a result of its tie-in with Solar Entertainment Corporation.
