From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hello E.A. Lacey and welcome to Wikipedia. Judging by the quality of your edits so far, you don't need my help. Have you been contributing anonymously before this? Anyway, here's a few tips for you just in case:

-- Tim Starling 14:33 14 Jun 2003 (UTC)

Thank you very much. I haven't exactly been contributing before, but I've been browsing and reading code, and it isn't too hard to pick up how things work. And thank you for the ~~~~ hint, which I probably wouldn't have picked up from looking at edit pages.
-- EALacey 16:37 14 Jun 2003 (UTC)

Hello there, welcome to the 'pedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you need pointers on how we title pages visit Wikipedia:Naming conventions or how to format them visit our manual of style. If you have any other questions about the project then check out Wikipedia:Help or add a question to the Village pump. Cheers! --maveric149

Hi, thanks for restoring the sections that got accidentally deleted when I did that edit on the Doctor Who tie-in websites page, no idea how it happened since I didn't even scroll down that far in the edit field, I'll try and keep a closer eye on in what changes have happened in the future. Cheers Number36 05:04, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

...Good catch on Peter Stoner! I was having trouble finding criticism of his book. Thank you! --Robert Stevens 12:54, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, though I can't claim much credit for finding the QRB review - a Google search turned up its JSTOR link. EALacey 13:39, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jesus as Myth

I just figured I'd say thanks for your extensive work on the Jesus as Myth page - it really needed it, it's in an atrocious shape, and I wish I had the time and work ethic to do more to it. TheologyJohn 13:28, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Hey, I saw you fixed up the link to my article on Doherty's page on here. Thanks for the plug! If I might ask, how did you find the article? Zeichman 00:00, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sappho

Hi, EALacey! Thanks very much for your feedback on the Sappho article. Looks like a little work will bring her up to GA status - I appreciate your help! -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 20:48, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Tiberius Alexander

No problemo, great article, and I'm something of a classicist myself, though I mostly write about opera here. I saw that one at GAC and thought it looked interesting, and it was. Good luck with your other endeavours. Cheers, Moreschi Deletion! 21:35, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] FYI

  • At Leo Ryan - I believe I have now switched over all of the citations to the CITE formatting. Smee 07:50, 25 January 2007 (UTC).
I have made the "Jungle Ambush" a subsection of "The Peoples Temple", and created another subsection heading "Travels to Jonestown". As per your suggestions at Talk:Leo Ryan/Comments. Smee 08:04, 25 January 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Restored Deletes

Thank you for restoring the nominations my revision deleted. I have no idea how that happened, but one thing is for sure - your monitoring has prevented some possible GAs from being denied the chance of being given a fair and proper GA review. Ariedartin JECJY Talk 14:14, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cartago delenda est

Hi. Thanks for your edit. I guess I didn't pay attention in Latin classes as well as I thought. If it's not subjunctive of obligation, what's the name for the grammatical form? --Dweller 20:50, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Bah! Gerundive! My old Latin teacher would be furious I got that wrong. Phooey. I noticed the Cato source you provided utilised an "h" in Cartago (ie "Carthago"). I found substantial Google hits both with and without. Which is more accurate? Also, do you know the origins of the expression, as Cato's solecism is longer and I'm not sure if he derived his catchphrase from a popular expression, or if the popular expression derived from him. Finally, help with citing a fact for the clarion call would be great. --Dweller 22:59, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bubble act

Thanks for the comments on the double act, it's the first tiem I've ever had any constructive response from a peer review. I left one little note about Vic and Bob, but other than that I will try to make the necessary changes over Easter. Where are you at Uni?--Crestville 15:18, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Oxford? Lah dee dah. I think it would help to watch vic & bob to understand it.--Crestville 20:04, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Lol, no not really. What I meant was, the description is pretty accurate and I would advbie you to watch it (perhaps on youtube) because it's funny)--Crestville 20:10, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cicero

Thank you for editing "my problem site":Marcus Tullius Cicero!! What delights me most are the references to Greek and Latin sources. As you can find out from the talk page, it has a substancial lack of references and looks and reads like patchwork. Yet, it is a very important topic, and I, however, will do my best to make it as close to a FA article as possible. If only the many vandals on this site will allow us to do it.... I have spent too much time reverting their "edits". Regards --Tellervo 09:38, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Helping out with the Unassessed Wikipedia Biographies

Seeing that you are an active member of the WikiBiography Project, I was wondering if you would help lend a hand in helping us clear out the amount of unassessed articles tagged with {{WPBiography}}. Many of them are of stub and start class, but a few are of B or A caliber. Getting a simple assessment rating can help us start moving many of these biographies to a higher quality article. Thank you! --Ozgod 20:29, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Correspondents of Cicero

Would you kindly add the name of Appius Claudius to the list? I have tried to do it, but I do not know, how to operate the "edit page" site. Appius Claudius, whose cognomen I have forgotten (maybe you can find it out?) was propraetor or proconsul of Cilikia in 52 BC one year before Cicero himself was in the same position. --Tellervo 12:38, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] From User:81.152.30.116

I have just noticed your postings. The book in question is essentially the text of my MA thesis entitled, 'Pagan Ritual And Myth, In The Early Christian Church'. It does indeed cover many aspects of the Jesus Myth, Christian festival et al...As an example, the first eight chapters are headed: (1)Rebirth of a Myth, (2)Christianity And The Sun God, (3)The Dying And Resurrected Saviour God,(4)Stars And Their Portents, (5)The Virgin Mother Of The World, (6)The Cave And Stable Myth, (7)Slaughter Of The Innocents, (8)Miracles...................etc. There are 16 chapters, 230pp, inc' Bibliography, and index. The work is therefore accademically sound, and relevant to many diverse aspects of Christianity. However, I will cease making further entries: and you must delete what you feel is inapropriate. As an act of contrition I am willing to rewrite, re-edit your entry on James Frazer; you seem to have some problems with it(?). [edit] The Waiting Womb

Hi E.A, Lacey - I am writing with regards to my entry on - The Waiting Womb: Novel - There is not a lot of fiction literature that is beneficial for couples suffering from infertility. Infertility impacts 4.9 million couples, and as I noted in the submission twenty percent of these cases are unexplained. As a person that has suffered through unexplained infertility I found no literature or reference material that dealt with other's emotions. The Waiting Womb, by Jill Sayre, while a fictionalized account of actual events, is a beneficial reference in dealing with the heartbreak of infertility, secondary infertility, as well as the joy of adoption.

Given that wikipedia is a free encyclopedia and an online reference source what better means to discover additional sources into the area of infertility. I ask you, have you suffered through infertility? Do you know the pain that I know i.e. physical, and emotional? I submit to you that wikipedia is a perfect venue for individuals/couples to start searching for information regarding how others have traveled the path of infertility. hi lacey, i was wondering if you could help me out on a message you sent me. I want to give reason why the page i contributed is worth keeping around. I do not feel this page should be deleted.

Dchi7 21:12, 26 March 2007 (UTC)Dchi7 Lacey, for clarification purposes The Waiting Womb is not MY publication it is one that I have read. The topic of infertility, secondary infertility, and adoption have impacted my life. As stated earlier this is a valuable resource. If it was a advertising venture wouldn't I have attached a link to order the novel? Thank you and best wishes.

You seem interested in removing my Urban_Cycle_Polo article based on it's references. I'm working on them. There will be an article in the New York Times in late August of 2007 which should eliminate your concerns of the subject's notability. --LeeAzzarello 23:32, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
