[edit] Career
Eiji Ezaki adopted the Hayabusa gimmick in 1993 after going to Mexico and then returning to Japan to face fellow wrestler Jushin Liger. Throughout his career, he managed to control the fanbase of the promotion FMW. Hayabusa has wrestled very dangerous matches, involving barbed wire and explosives. After one "Exploding Cage" match, he was rushed to the hospital due to severe burns. Hayabusa's rivals included Mr. Gannosuke, The Gladiator, and Onita himself, while he would frequently team with Jinsei Shinzaki. Ezaki would occasionally alter his character to the "Darkside of Hayabusa" or the maskless "H".
In October 2001, Hayabusa suffered an injury during a match against Mammoth Sasaki while attempting a springboard moonsault. His foot caught the ropes and he landed on his head, paralyzing him. The injury also provoked a very high fever and Hayabusa required surgery. Hayabusa was considered the heart and soul of FMW, and after his departure FMW slowly folded.
In the meantime, Ezaki has been pursuing a career as a singer and usually appears in a wheelchair, although he is able to walk with the help of a cane. Ezaki helped get Mr. Gannosuke's WMF promotion off the ground and agreed to be the face of the promotion until February 2004 when the promotion could no longer afford him to appear.
Hayabusa recently appeared backstage at a few WWE events where he met old friends such as Sabu , Rob Van Dam and Rey Mysterio. He also had the opportunity to take photographs with Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon and Triple H.
Hayabusa recently attended the PWU (Pro Wrestling Unplugged) FAHRENHEIT: 3RD DEGREE event on August 19, 2006 at the New Alhambra (formerly known as ECW Arena). This was his first appereance in the USA since 2000. (Last time being at E3 in LA, helping promote Tokyo Pop and FMW DVDS by having a 6 man tag match) He also did a shoot interview video with RF Video.
Ezaki has stated that his goal is to stand in a wrestling ring once more without aid.
