Elizabeth Warden

Elizabeth Warden (nee Hawksworth) is a fictional character on the British situation comedy series Keeping Up Appearances. She is played by actress Josephine Tewson.
Elizabeth is the next door neighbour of Hyacinth and Richard Bucket and is the sister of Emmet Hawksworth, who moves in with his sister after his divorce. Elizabeth's husband, who lives and works in Saudi Arabia, and their daughter Gail, a university student, are referred to but never seen on camera.
Although Elizabeth is considered a best friend to the Buckets, she is usually nervous around Hyacinth, even though she's afraid to admit how she really feels about her knowing that Hyacinth wouldn't listen to what she thought about her anyway. Elizabeth is sometimes referred to as Liz by Hyacinth and Richard.
Elizabeth is also a frequent guest at Hyacinth's daily get together for coffee and biscuits, where it is evident that she is always the victim of Hyacinth's constant distractions: Every time something comes up around Hyacinth, most notably a phone call from either her son Sheridan Bucket or her sisters Rose, Daisy and Violet, Elizabeth will act clumsy or paranoid (for instance dropping her biscuits in her coffee or spilling the whole cup of coffee on the floor in shock at sudden exclamations from Hyacinth), prompting her to cut the visit short...that is, if she can make it out of the door. It is that clumsiness alone that has Hyacinth thinking that she can't be trusted with her fine china, offering her a beaker instead.
However, when she is not around Hyacinth, she does comment on her latest schemes from the privacy of her home and tries to assure Emmet, who is also nervous around Hyacinth, that they should act neighbourly toward her...whether they like it or not!
