Talk:Endicott Peabody
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
If anybody is interested. in 1962 as a young DJ/Chief Engineer of radio station WARE in Ware, Massachusetts, it was Richard B. Johnson who was almost fired for making the joke; "Governor Peabody was the first governor in the state to have four towns named after him. They are Endicot, Peabody, Marblehead, and Athol." Al Roberts was the station owner/manager at the time and he was furious because he helped on the Peabody campaign. Twenty or more years later, Howie Carr, a Boston radio personality took credit for the comment, but Johnson was out of the state and couldn't defend himself --or call him a descriptive name. Anyway, it's in the book, Abominable Firebug ISBN 0595386679 if anybody wants to add that reference.LymanSchool 19:58, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
