I would welcome help expanding this article and/or comments on whether it should be merged with racial profiling.
I created this page inadvertently when I was contributing to an article about [Sam Harris (Author)], who is an advocate of "ethnic profiling" of Muslims. I have heard the term used previously to this in the popular discourse so was surprised that it did not have a Wikipedia entry. I will try to add to this page as time allows, but I also think that ethnic profiling is really the same as racial profiling, except that its more acceptable in some political quarters to discriminate against and/or single out persons based on "ethnicity" rather than "race" as there is greater social consensus regarding the political incorrectness of racism and racial profiling.

- Even if they're not precisely the same thing, it would make sense to cover them in the same article so as to more clearly explain them both. NickelShoe (Talk) 14:39, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
- Ethnic is a larger set than race (e.g., Muslims aren't a racial subset; Arabs are a racial subset -- but not all Arabs are Muslims, etc.); consequently Ethnic Profiling should be the merged-into article rather than the one reduced to a re-direct.--76.17.171.199 22:28, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

I have removed the links to Sam Harris and The End of Faith from the "see also" section of this article. To the best of my knowledge, Harris has written but one article which mentions ethnic profiling. On this basis, it is hard to see that Harris merits inclusion here. Still more puzzling is the link to The End of Faith, a book which doesn't mention ethnic profiling at all. Please see here for further discussion. Laurence Boyce 20:32, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
