Banovići is a municipality in northweastern Bosnia and Herzegovina. Banovići is also the name of the town where the municipal seat is found.
The municipality covers an area of 176 km² which is about 0.34 % of the nations territory. It is part of the Tuzla Canton, and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The municipality is mountainous and heavily forested.
In 1991 the municipality had a population of 26,507. The ethnic composition was: Bosniaks (72.39 %), Serbs (16.80 %), Croats (2.11 %), Yugoslavs (7.26 %) and others (1.44 %). In 2003 the municipality had a population of 28,918 (95%) Bosniaks.
