Since Ca2+ is (obviously) divalent, and each carboxylate is monovalent, I'd guess that each end of the molecule binds to one Ca2+ ion, thus each molecule of BAPTA only binds two Ca2+ ions, and not four as is suggested in the article. That's just my chemical intuition, though, and I don't have any evidence, really to support that.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Alkaloids (talk • contribs).
