Beachball volleyball
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Beachball volleyball is a variation on volleyball for younger children in elementary school. The object is to hit a beach ball around a court. After the sixth grade, the children are transferred into normal volleyball, and some have a difficult time adjusting to the harder ball. Obese students have the advantage, as they can use their strength to hit the ball over the net easily. The sport is never played in an unisex environment, as girls are usually taller than boys at this age level.
Beachball Volleyball is also played as an adult party game. It can be played indoors as a substitute for a hard volleyball which is less prone to damaging furniture and breakables. At night, it is also played outdoors with glow in the dark beachballs. The use of a beachball is also a good substitute for less skilled volleyball players among adults as well as children, and encourages participation.
