Bethlehem Central Middle School
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bethlehem Central Middle School is a school in the Bethlehem Central Schools district. The town that this school is in is Bethlehem, New York. The school holds 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. The school is so large that it is separated into four groups, or houses as they call it. These houses are Hudson, Patroon 1, Patroon 2, and Knickerbocker. The houses are currently changing, Hudson and Knickerbocker merging, and Patroon 1 and 2 merging. The names are changing. There has been a multi-million dollar construction project in the middle school recently, still going on. The upper floor of the old wing, Hudson, is not currently occupied because of construction. There was a new wing added on the school that is now housing Hudson and Knickerbocker 7. Hudson will soon move back to the new renovated floors in the old wing.
The new house names were voted on and selected on March 6th, 2007. The choices were Mohawk, Patroon, Hudson, Knickerbocker, and Schuyler. Out of these, the students were allowed to pick two choices from that list. Most students in the school picked the name of their former house (knickerbocker picked knickerbocker, hudson picked hudson, patroon picked patroon) and then picked either Mohawk or Schuyler. The students on Patroon, both one and two, tended to choose Mohawk and the students on both Knickerbocker and Hudson tended to choose Schuyler. The students on both Hudson and Knickerbocker feel that this naming poll was unfair, because of the size of Patroon.
