HURRICANEHINK DISCUSSION NUMBER 2
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
11 PM EDT FRI FEB 16 2007
HURRICANEHINK CONTINUES TO ORGANIZE HURRICANE ARTICLES AND STRENGTHEN THE OVERALL OF THE TROPICAL CYCLONE WIKIPROJECT. IN THE WORDS OF Kicking222, Damnit, Hink, on how many FACs do I have to ask you to write articles on all topics because your blatant pro-hurricane-article bias means so many of them are incredible while so many other articles are not as incredible?. CURRENTLY HURRICANEHINK IS AFFECTING ARTICLES RELATED TO HURRICANE WILMA, THOUGH ITS FUTURE IS UNCERTAIN.

HURRICANEHINK DISCUSSION NUMBER 1
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
11 AM EDT SAT JAN 27 2007
AN AIR FORCE RESERVE RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT LOCATED A USER WITH HIGH EDITS TO HURRICANE PAGES. THEREFORE, THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER IS UPGRADING IT TO HURRICANEHINK. IT HAS ALREADY MADE LANDFALL ON THE LIST OF ATLANTIC HURRICANE SEASONS BY CREATING ARTICLES FOR THE 1492 THROUGH 1889 SEASONS, IT STRUCK THE LIST OF PACIFIC HURRICANE SEASONS BY CREATING ARTICLES FOR THE 1959 THROUGH 2003 SEASONS, AND PASSED THROUGH THE LIST OF NORTH INDIAN CYCLONE SEASONS BY CREATING ARTICLES FOR ALL SEASONS IN THE BASIN. THE USER IS CURRENTLY ACTIVE WITH OVER 10,000 EDITS, AND HAS A HIGH WIKIPEDIAHOLIC SCORE OF 1546.8937416423393. HURRICANEHINK REMAINED NEAR THE TROPICAL CYCLONE WIKIPROJECT, AND DUE TO THE CURRENT PATTERN OF THE UPPER LEVEL WINDS, IT APPEARS THE STORM WILL REMAIN NEARLY STATIONARY. A BLOCKING RIDGE OVER WP:RFA WILL KEEP THE USER FAR AWAY FROM THERE FOR AN EXTENDED, IF NOT INDEFINITE PERIOD OF TIME.

[edit] Storm History/About Me
I first became an anonymous Wikipedia user on December 27, 2004. My first anon edit was to the Wikipedia sandbox, which consisisted of me changing the word hello to Hello. This was to test that I really could edit the articles. Minutes later, I made my first mainspace edit to the 1969 Atlantic hurricane season by adding Inga to the lede for notable storms. For 8 months, I continued to become better at articles, during which I created my first article; 1949 Atlantic hurricane season. I also created 1939, 1925, 1924, 1923, 1909, 1907, 1905, 1904, 1903, and 1902.
On August 11, 2005, I became a Wikipedia user, and have been going ever since. My last name is Hink, and I like hurricanes, so I chose the name Hurricanehink. My first Wikipedia edit as Hurricanehink was a fix for the 1903 Atlantic hurricane season article.

My page has been vandalized 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 times. I am currently #6 on the List of Wikipedians by featured article nominations.
Here's the link to the IRC (and here's another one) so I don't lose it.

[edit] Hurricanes
Ever since July 31th 1995, I have been tracking hurricanes, starting with Tropical Storm Erin (later hurricane), as it was going to hit near my cousins' house. Since then, I have tracked every single tropical depression, storm, and hurricane. More likely than not, if you ask me a name, I will be able to tell you if it was a hurricane or not. Luckily, my home state (New Jersey) has not gotten hit since 1903, but we are not immune to major hurricanes. On September 3 1821, we got hit by a Category 4 hurricane. If that were to happen today, well... it wouldn't be nice at all.
In addition, I started a little project of mine, based on satellite images from the Global ISCCP B1 Browse System. Here is a list of some Mediterranean tropical cyclones. Here is my first sandbox for articles, and here's my other.
[edit] Removal of the Greek Alphabet for Hurricanes
Personally, I don't like the Greek Alphabet for hurricanes. It is confusing for the public, and what happens if a name is worthy of retirement? This almost happened in 2005. If the 2005 Azores subtropical storm were classified operationally, Wilma would have been named Alpha, and surely would've been retired. Rather than waste time for this, I have my own idea for my own fantasy world - have a 7th list of human names. The gender, rather than strictly male or female, would be ambiguous; that is, it could be either. Here is my list.

Get every storm article I've written to GA status or better; if article doesn't have enough info, merge it. If I'm not part of the solution, I'm part of the problem. Storm articles I wrote that are featured (Edouard (2002), Henri (2003), Bonnie (2004), and 2000 Sri Lanka cyclone) are excluded, as they're basically done and already part of the solution.

[edit] Music
Music is another love. I started playing the piano when I was 4 years old. I began by playing Christmas songs by ear, as I had Absolute pitch (I am one of the .01% of Americans who have it, my mother being one of the many tone deaf people). I continued playing, and at the age of 11 I composed my first song. It sucked, but it was original. I steadily wrote more and more, and to this day, I have 98 songs and counting, 3 of which the High School Choir has sung. My music is a blend of jazz, rock, and contemporary music, with my primary influences being Jimmy Buffett and Billy Joel. I also play the saxophone (for 9 years now) and clarinet (for 5 months now). I am currently going to college to major in music composition.

[edit] Trivia
I love trivia. For as long as I can remember, I had a keen interest in geography. That led to history facts, which led to random facts. In the 2004/5 school year, every day I brought trivia questions for my lunch table. Some were history ones, weather ones, random ones, pop culture ones - it was fun. To end this section, here is a question. What common object has 24 flowers printed on it? Give up? Click here
