Kanagatucko
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kanagatucko (1710—1783), known in English as Standing Turkey, was a Cherokee chief who visited London with a delegation of Cherokees in 1730 and again in 1762, where he met King George III. He signed the treaty of Hard Labor in 1768, establishing the frontier with the colonies, and the treaty of Sycamore Shoals in 1775, ceding lands to Kentucky. He remained neutral during the American War of Independence.
Kanagatucko is often confused with his kinsman Oconostota, who used the title "Stalking Turkey."
