Milošević trial
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The trial of Slobodan Milošević at the ICTY has lasted for several years, almost as much as the conflict itself. There have been hundreds of witnesses and the trial is likely to proceed well into 2006.
The day-by-day account of the trial with shortcuts to video and transcripts is the best way to orient oneself in this vast material. Milošević does not recognize the tribunal but is participating in the proceedings with the larger point of presenting the Serbian view of the truth.
The tribunal in this case serves not only as the court but it has a larger role of establishing what has really happened in the 1990s in Yugoslavia, and of distinguishing facts from fiction and propaganda (which was present on all sides).
